Hudson’s Bay Company (wooden hoist)
One floor beam portion is open on the second level of the Hudson’s Bay Company (complex) warehouse. This supported a wooden hoist to lift dry goods and materials with a rope from the main floor of the warehouse. The original wooden platform hoist disappeared/ where it end-up is still unknown (a mystery up to date); some suspect it may have end up in the museum for archives. For many years, before the arrival of the annual sea-lift, a number of square dances (in early days) and often teen dances were held in the Hudson’s Bay Company (complex) warehouse; adjacent to a new retail store building the Northern Store.
