The Grey Nun’s of Nicolet (QC) in Chesterfield Inlet

father-Turquetil-169x300In September, 1912, Father Arsene Turquetil (1876 – 1955), Oblate of Mary Immaculate, sent out by Bishop Ovide Charlebois,O.M.I., Bishop of Keewatin, came to establish the first catholic mission among the Inuit of Hudson Bay at Chesterfield Inlet, N.W.T.

On July 2, 1917, feast day of “Our Lady-of-the-Delivrande”, patron saint of the new mission, the first Inuit converts offered their foreheads, and their souls, to the mysterious touch of the Baptismal waters, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. That step in faith is without doubt due to the miraculous intervention of Little Theresa of Lisieux. continued …. The Grey Nuns of Chesterfield Inlet NWT
